Annette appeared welcoming and kind at first meetings; however, as time went on it became more and more apparent that she had little interest in my case and more interest in making sure I paid my invoice on time. She did not return emails or phone calls in a timely manor unless it was related to bill ing. She rarely assisted me in my case but continued to charge me large amounts. I would definitely use caution when using Annette and recommend looking elsewhere.

There are a lot of things I would like to say on this email, however I will keep it short and to the point. At a cost of $300 per hour, Annette Burns provided nothing but disappointment. I(we) are still trying to resolve matters that were handled extremely unprofessionally and certainly unsatisfact orily by Annette Burns. My review is emphatically negative.

I had a fairly complicated case. Annette kept me focused on what mattered. She didn't tell me what I wanted to hear. She didn't allow herself to become my therapist. She did not 'troll around in the mud' as my ex-spouses several attorneys did. Divorce is an emotional thing for those of us that g o through it, especially when children are involved. As good as it would have felt at times to have hired someone to placate me and throw stones at the other side, my child and i (and even my former spouse -whether she realizes it or not) have all benefitted greatly from Annette's knowledge and professionalism.

It’s been several years since I worked w her and I am still upset. My case was super easy, divorce w wife agreeing on most terms. $5k up front but in the sales pitch she definitely led me to believe it wouldn’t get used up and money would return after. I still don’t know what I paid for. Documents we re wrong, dates were wrong. I was never kept in communication. My ex then went out and got a lawyer who completely manhandled my attorney. Went from amicable to now staring at back child support, alimony etc for an ex wife that cheated. This was by far the worst attorney I have ever experienced and after running this mess through family members who are attorneys, they definitely agree that this attorney either gave ZERO interest in helping me or was incapable. I got everything I needed after firing her and doing the rest alone w no attorney. Do not hire this scam artist. She will take your money and drive that price up and up while providing you with the worst quality attorney possible. I have my ex wife’s attorney info if u want a real one. Her attorney came in strong, meaning business and completely outclassed “my” attorney. Go with that lawyer if you want results. Hire this one if you want to lose.

Dealing with my ex was a nightmare. She was keeping me from seeing my daughter. She was dictating all the terms and the terms were constantly changing on her mood. I contacted Laura and retained her as my attorney. Having her in my corner was a huge blessing. She did such a great job. She contacted m y ex and got her attention quick! Pretty much immediately I started getting regular visits with my daughter, that didn't change on a whim. Laura spent the next year working with me, going back and forth with my ex and her attorney. We gradually increased my time with my daughter. At a certain point my ex shut down and refused to negotiate further, so we scheduled a court date. When the day came, it was a tremendous victory. Laura did a fantastic job and now I have equal parenting time and no more harassing texts from my ex. It is such a relief! I'm so happy and I owe it all to Laura and her hard work. I would definitely use her again in the future.

Hired her for a high conflict divorce. Awful experience. She wanted me to settle after not even having my husband complete financial disclosure. This after a 25 year marriage where there were a lot of assets , some of which he was hiding . Wasted 24,000 and 6 months of my life. Not to mention she was rude and talked down to me . I do not recommend. Very unprofessional, lacking knowledge and definitely did not have my best interest in mind .

Although she might have some knowledge of family law, my experience with her was a nightmare. I believe she may have good intentions however her execution in this matter did not reflect that. There was poor communication between opposing counsel when it came to upcoming court appearances. Her process server was unable to serve the opposing counsel with the required paperwork for court, which I may add, for the amount of money that was spent is a completely unacceptable answer! Either her inexperience or lack of preparation greatly hindered the process of an already exhausting custody battle. She EMAILED me of her intent to withdrawal as my legal counsel LESS than a week before my court appearance which put everything into jeopardy. Once again, this is unacceptable for the amount of money that was spent. Hindsight I would NOT hire this attorney again or at least wait until she has more than 5 years of practicing experience under her belt. In my opinion, withdrawing from a case with no more than few days notice to appear in court is completely unprofessional and put her client in compromising position. I hope her future clients have better success.

Really rough experience with this lawyer. She ghosted me after a few weeks, leaving me without a lot of $$. When I did speak with her, she had a bad attitude toward everything, even encouraging me to settle for a low-amount because she “didn’t want to have to deal with this case much longer”. Very up set.

What can I say about CH except that he is the perfect hybrid of resilience and compassion. His innate ability to see obstacles in such a unique manner which enables him to figure out a solution no lawyer will see coming is what makes him THE MAN! He won't use a sledgehammer or a huge pogo stick to ge t through or over the wall.... he simply dissolves the weakest weight - bearing brick of the wall and watches her come tumbling down! My divorce and child custody issue is as messy as it gets. International - possible kidnapping, physical threats - all the pieces for a really good Lifetime made for TV movie. But with CH on my (and your) side, he brings his legal mop and pail to clean everything up like there was never a mess. Stop searching..... CH is your future lawyer,,,,

Brilliant is the best way to describe Cody Hayes. My divorce wasnt a mutual one, so I had to hire an attorney post my ex had already looked around the part of town I live in. It was a blessing in disguise as I traveled farther away to find Deshon. I knew she would be perfect for me in this hard time in life in just one meeting. It wasnt only for her compassion but her advise. She didnt tell me what I wanted to hear but what I should hear. Its always expensive to go through attorneys but if you employ one who is smart you get most out of your money. Her entire team is smart and paid a lot of attention to detail. It sometimes is hard to find time with Deshon but you will always get the right answer. I truly appreciated working with her entire team Staci, Sara, Natalie, Jessica, Lisa etc. It took over an year to get the final judgement and all settlement with custody etc. and I have no complaints. I was really impressed with Deshon at the hearing, she was against another 10 rated lawyer in the town and the opponent was totally out of her element and Deshon was smart, poised and eloquent in her part of defense. DeShon Pullen represented me in a Divorce Case. She has excellent interpersonal skills and I was able to build rapport and trust with her right away. In addition, she has effective communication skills with everyone she works with. I saw this over and over again throughout the months when working wi th the Judge, the Mediator, Opposing Counsel, and her Staff. She understood my goals and set the course on how to obtain them. She had perseverance in my case when I felt like “throwing in the towel”. She came prepared to my Settlement Conference. She had a suitcase of documentation and even the Mediator had mentioned that he could tell she had put a lot of work into my case. The Settlement Conference was a long 6 hour ordeal and when Opposing Counsel tried to tear me down, DeShon was quick to come back with a compelling argument and in a logical manner. If was hard for me to “think” during this conference because I was so stressed and emotionally spent. Deshon was steadfast. She was thorough and paid attention to detail to the bitter end. After everything was settled, the Mediator typed up the Settlement. Deshon reviewed it, and then she changed one of the items. I did not understand it at the time, but she had the foresight to see that if that item was not changed it could negatively impact me in the future. She said to me, “I want to make sure that you are going to be okay”. It has only been a few months since the Divorce was final and today I see clearly how important it was that she changed that one item. We were almost done and then, my former spouse tried to change an item after we had already settled. It was something that was important to me. DeShon and her assistant, Staci LeSueur helped me to work through this with positive results, and we still met the deadline date of filing the Divorce Decree. There were 2 other last minute revisions that occurred in my favor and I still wonder, how did they do this? Deshon Pullen, Jennifer Raczkowski and Staci LeSueur…This is Amazing Team! I hired this law firm in 2012 to represent me in a child custody case. The other party (mother) filed an Order of Protection, unbeknownst to me, which evicted me from my house and prohibited me from having contact with my 2 yr old daughter. I was a stay at home father for all 24 months of my daught er's life, so needless to say, I was devestated. I requested a hearing to quash the order, but Deshon Pullen and Associates advised me advised me to not attend the hearing because they settled with opposing counsel to remove the child from the Order of Protection. The court cited that I failed to appear, and our stipulated agreement was denied without any explanation from Deshon Pullen and Associates. This firm did represent me at our Temporary Orders hearing, and the judge removed my daughter, awarded me joint custody and exclusive use of the marital residence...after not having ANY contact with my daughter for 3.5 months, after a Notice of Trustee Sale was filed to foreclose my home that I hadn't occupied for 3.5 months, and after they told me I had exhausted my $10,000 retainer. They withdrew from my case and emailed me a bill for an additional $2,000. My daughter is now 8 yrs old, and she lives with me most of the time, but when I think about my experience with this firm and my losses, I get nauseous.
