I retained Jim after a ski accident collision in Colorado. I was hit while skiing and suffered a mild traumatic brain injury, broken ribs, and a partially collapsed lung. Over time, it became clear that I was going to experience long-term effects from the accident. I hired Jim and that was the best t hing I've ever done in my life! Jim was compassionate, objective, fair, considerate, and intelligent. He is an expert in Colorado personal injury law and is extremely knowledgeable about consequences of brain injury. He advocated for the best outcome in my case and I always felt that he was 100% on my side. Let's hope I'm never in another accident in Colorado; however, if I was, I'd hire Jim in a second. He is an incredible attorney and a wonderful, intelligent, compassionate human being.

I found Jim by accident while "googling" "NM ski laws". The firm name showed up on a document explaining what I had "googled". I also asked an attorney friend of mine for a recommendation. I talked to each of the 3 names I was given. One said I needed someone with much experience in ski law and t he other two were not impressive. So, I contacted Jim Chalat and from our first conversation, I knew he was the one to represent my wife. He was very familiar with NM ski law even though from the beginning he told us that he could not go to court in NM but would direct the case with a local attorney of his choosing. We engaged him to represent my wife and we were very pleased with his expertise in skiing, knowledge of NM ski law and in negotiating with the potential defendants insurance company. He was up front with us every step of the way. He got us what we thought was a reasonable recovery given that my wife decided that she did not want to go to court. We hope never to need his services again but would not hesitate to engage him in the future should the need arise.

On September of 2020 I was in a horrible motorcycle accident that resulted in serious bodily injury. I hired Sarah McEahern to represent me through this process.
