I was charged with Simple Assault. When we went to trial Ms. Sulton absolutely demolished the prosecutor. She is confident when she speaks, has everything planned out, and is well prepared. When all the witnesses had been called and it was time for their closing remarks the prosecutor went first. I w as a little nervous when he finished, up until it was Ms. Sultons turn. She left no doubt in anyone's mind that I was indeed innocent, and poked holes in the prosecutor and witnesses statements with ease. Highly recommend Ms. Sulton.

Joseph will forever be in my heart. He is the reason today my father is a free man again. Back when this started which was last year, Mr. Scrofano recommended prolonging this trial so we could have a different judge just so my father could have a chance. Sukumar is the best lawyer! I hired him for my criminal case that he fought so hard for me for in my defense that the case was dismissed. So I was facing Charges for driving while drunk in DC and they found my concealed carry (pistol) under my seat and my Virginia License to conceal carry wasn’t recognized by the District of Columbia. But Thankfully Mr. Shawn Sukumar’s amazing Knowledge and experience in his field was able to get the g un charges dropped and I was able to avoid any jail time (aside from the initial arrest) and in the end had 6 months unsupervised Probation with 90 hours of community service, 12 hours of an alcohol class, online driving safety course, Online MADD course and a 100 fee I believe was it. And after all that the judge signed a Youth act order meaning my conviction was removed from my record. All in all I was very satisfied with the end result of my case. Highly recommend this gentleman, he is very professional and makes sure his clients understand everything and is very good about staying in contact with his clients and keeping them updated. You would Definitely want him representing you if you needed an attorney.

Shawn is a fine attorney, and I’m confident he is satisfactory for DUI charges or other simple criminal matters, but respectfully is is junior varsity if you’re in need of a serious defense. At best, Shawn is slow to understand complex matters and surprisingly naive to human nature and inept at how to strategize a defense strategy when faced with a non-cookie cutter issue. Unfortunately, he was also very adversarial with me when I was most vulnerable and needed help the most. If you are faced with a matter that could mean your career or freedom, you can roll the dice with Shawn Sukumar or hire a real lawyer.
