I came across Leonard Mondschein's name a few times over the years assuming that one day my parents might be in need of one. Oddly I kept his name in different places and when the time came which was about 6 months ago, I went on the internet to look for an elder lawyer. After finding him I gave the info to my mom and later found his name on little pieces of paper I had saved. It was true Kismet! He has helped my mom with my step-dad's needs and now he is helping my dad with my step-mom's needs. Who knew his services would be required twice in 6 months. I have been a part of the process with the first parent and it went quite smoothly. My mom is thrilled with his services as am I. Now it's time for dad, and I expect it will be a bit more challenging as his circumstances are a bit different, but all the same I'm certain that Leonard will be do a fantastic job with all matters at hand. Leonard is understanding about the elderly in general and willing to incorporate family members into the conversation to assist the one needing the help. If you're an adult child helping a parent, don't be afraid to jump in and ask questions. Leonard will gladly offer his advice and encourage your participation in the entire process if and when needed. That is something I am very appreciative of. I had doubts about getting much help when I started. I needed to get Medicade for my wife and after talking to Len I realized it was possible and has become a reality. There were a lot of aspects to our situation and both Len and Philip had their work cut out for them or for me. They really treated m e like family and held my hand all the way through the chaos of the systems. My family hired Len Mondschein way back in 2001 to set up fairly routine estate planning for my Dad, who was 83 then. Not much was required for some years thereafter. During those same intervening years, my mom developed full-blown Alzheimer's and became bedridden and could not communicate at all. My dad passed away in late 2012, and it was actually fairly sudden, considering his advanced age. It also immediately plunged us into a desperate situation, because my mom was utterly helpless and we needed an Emergency Guardianship set up enabling us to manage all related financial and health matters for her. Emergency Guardianships are pretty uncommon, even in Florida, and non-trivial to get. Len stepped in on literally one day's notice, was in court repeatedly over the next few days, and won the EG ruling. He also guided us carefully and constantly thru the next two years of transitioning to a permanent Guardianship, managing all financial and court-related processes, even connecting us to some first-rate outside counsel in tax matters and real estate issues with the family home. When my mom passed away in late 2014, Len developed and executed an elegant and successful strategy to ward off outside claims against the remnant estate, saw us through 18 months of probate. The incredible part of to our family was that he was able to do all of this for us even though none of us siblings lived in Florida, or even in the southern part of the country, and much of the filings and documentation constantly required assent or execution from all of us. I personally spent the most time working with Len as the designated Guardian, and what stays in my mind now that it's all past us was the respect and even admiration that the various court administrators, judges and staff always showed Len; and the unique mix of legal precision and family compassion he brought to the table. We learned over time that the reason Len is such a special lawyer, is simply that he is a very special human being. You should count yourself extraordinarily lucky to work with him if the need ever arises.

Leonard is a wealth of resources and will provide all steps needed to avoid costly mistakes one can make while dealing with Medicare/Medicaid etc. It was the best investment I have made this year.

My husband has Parkinson's and after years of the entire family caring for him at home it came time to move him to a nursing home where he could be cared for 24/7. My daughter had come across Leonard's name 3 times over the years and figured since he kept coming up he must be the right lawyer to use. She was right! I knew I could not afford the cost of a nursing home and needed to obtain Medicaid with his Medicare to pay for the costs of living and medical expenses for his future. After my initial consultation with Leonard he gave me a long "laundry" list of items I would need to provide him, in order to move forward with the process.
