We waited 6 months to cool down before writing this review; but even now flashbacks from dealing with Pedro make us angry. We hired Petro to assist with a sale of our co-op in midtown based on his excellent reviews on Yelp. It was a big mistake. Petro is one of the most incompetent professionals w e've ever met. Here are the reasons: - Petro wasn't responding to emails from the buyer side in a timely fashion. The buyer's lawyer was replying within a few hours. With Petro we were lucky if he responded the same day. At the end we felt we had to follow-up with him on every buyer's email just to make sure he replies promptly. - We asked him a few times to cc us on every email so that we are in the loop. He wasn't doing it. We had to ask our agent to forward to us every email coming from the buyer's side so that we can be in the loop and make sure he replies. - He scheduled closing without having all the documents. Then he cancelled it last minute to the surprise of all parties involved. - Lack of basic understanding of tax related paperwork requirements in real estate sales. - His incompetence resulted in delays, which cost us an extra month of mortgage payment. - We lost complete confidence in him. A day before closing we even called the buyer's lawyer just to make sure our lawyer did everything he was supposed to in order to close successfully. - At the end we consulted with all parties in the process, agents and buyer's lawyer, the unanimous opinion of Petro was incompetence. Selling an apartment at the onset of Covid was very stressful. The closing process was changing due to lock-down and we were not even sure if the transaction would go through. But having Petro as our lawyer didn't make it any easier; he turned the entire experience into a nightmare.

Chris Baione and his firm exemplifies all the best qualities of a top tier NYC attorney and law firm. They’re honest, professional, smart, efficient, diligent, and extremely fair to everyone. These qualities are inherently organic within the firm’s culture. Chris is a wonderful throwback to NYC’s pas t eras of high quality service, deeds, and results. He’s classy, respectful, kind, intelligent, street smart, proficient, and he works very hard. He’s down to earth, too, and did I also mention he’s a NYC lawyer? He’s returned calls to me at 7pm to 9pm, and emailed me back during the weekends. They work for you, and work very hard to win. This was not the case with my prior attorney before Chris. I began the VCF claim process in 2018. Time was working against me. I had contacted 20 of NYC’s VCF attorneys. I had worked in sales on Wall Street during the 80s & 90s, and was familiar with certain tendencies. Only 4 of 20 firms passed my lenient tests. None were the large & powerful 9-11 law firms. The large law firms all failed miserable. I was given bad VCF advice by lawyers and paralegals, outright lied to, a firm’s staff carelessly disclosed privy & personal client information to me, some lawyers only wanted easy slam dunk claims with 1 million plus reward potential, others wanted me to do all the grunt work before they would take my claim. Then they would submit my own hard work for me, and collect an easy 10% with no work being done. Think about the latter. One attorney that gave me the latter condition, called me multiple times to check my progress. Then they called and told me they had mailed correspondence to me but it came back, and wanted to know if I still intended to file my claim. When I returned their call, they couldn’t bother to speak with me, and had their paralegal regurgitate their words to me. The paralegal finally admitted no correpsondence was sent to me. Another lawyer that wanted me to do the work first, thought he was Gordon Gekko, and spoke to me as such. His VCF knowledge was weak and he was high-browed. He’s with a large law firm that is aggressively prospecting and advertising for new 9-11 clients everywhere. Other law firms sold my contact information. I was getting cold called by unknown lawyers, law firms, or con artists, non stop, at all hours. They had called my back up phone, and asked to speak with my alt name used to contact them. Busted. This is just some of the nonsense that I dealt with before Chris. Learn from my experience. The 9-11 VCF claims industry is brutal, vicious, ruthless, deceitful, and a minefield. You can lose a very solid claim because your lawyer was incompetent, really didn’t care to go all out for you, or works for a ‘cookie mold’ ‘one size fits all’ law firm, that just processes VCF claims en masse. They’re concerned only with their bottom line, not maximizing your award. Call multiple attorneys, and make sure that one of your calls is with Chis Baione. You will have everything to gain, and really nothing to lose by calling him. I’m confident that you will arrive at the same conclusions that I did, after meeting with him. My own VCF case was solid but old, and needed a competent lawyer with the resources and commitment to complete it. Lawyers had advised me it would go to appeal. Chris did too, so he and his team worked very hard to try to prevent this. They had succeeded. If you had already hired another attorney, and had received your award, it wouldn’t hurt to contact Chris to have him review your claim and reward. It’s possible that some award money was left behind. If this review helped you, and Chris helps to bring you some manner of justice from 9-11, as he has done for me, just pay it forward to other potential 9-11 victims, by steering them to Chris Baione and his law firm, Pitta and Baione. No one needs to be traumatized, or victimized again, when searching for an ethical, honest, and competent, 9-11 attorney, after having to suffer through and dealing with 9-11-01.

Mr. Erlanger took on my case at a point when it was as he described it a "mess." I had prior counsel who were only in it for the quick settlement. Claims had been allowed to expire and the clock was running out and i found him. He was very honest from the beginning in his assessment of my case and I have since learned that it's best to have a lawyer give you the most honest assessment of your case than the one you may want to hear. He did that. There were challenges and there still are but I can honestly say that he has been a powerful advocate even when he was going up against a colleague of his. He's brilliant, knows the law inside and out and is a fair and decent man. When I was in the hospital for something unrelated to my case he was emailing me to inquire as to my doctor, my treatment, etc. He didn't need to do that. In March of 2015 I filed a complaint with The Division of Human Rights. I was a homeless Veteran with two pet therapy animals. On 2/12/'15 my two Emotional Support cats and I reluctantly found ourselves in The Department of Homeless Services [DHS]. At first DHS told me that they could provide shel ter for me but not my pet therapy animals. That same day I had to go and get verication from my therapist in writing that my animals provided and served a medical purpose and that they were not to be separated from me. The East 30th Street Shelter for Men allowed us into their system and then started hassassing me by telling that my cats could not stay there! I filed a Reasonable Accommodation Complaint because on the 8th day of our stay Mr. John Hammond, Program Director, denied my complaint and forced a two week separation from me and my animals until The Mayor's Alliance for NYC'S Animals advocated for me and my two cats on appeal of Mr. Hammond's decision. I went through two separate DHS Processing Hubs and finally after abuot Three weeks my pet therapy animals and I were relocated inside of DHS'S shelter at Borden Avenue Residence for Veterans. I have a spinal condition and my pets were and still are family to me. I was further harassed at Borden by staff. ANYWAY, IN MARCH 2015 I FILED MY COMPLAINT WITH THE DIVISION OF HUMAN RIGHTS. SHORTLY THEREAFTER THE DIVISION FOUND THAT PROBABLE CAUSE EXISTED AND THEY ORDERED THAT MY CASE BE HEARD AT A PUBLIC HEARING. ON 12/18/2015, I ENTERED INTO A RETAINER AGREEMENT WITH MICHAEL REDENBURG -- ATTORNEY AT LAW. I hired Rosenblum Law to handle a simple traffic ticket. After paying $599 upfront, I was met with poor communication, vague updates, and a clear lack of interest in my case. I provided a detailed statement with key context that could have affected the outcome — they ignored it. Weeks went by with co py-paste replies and no clear plan. Only after I filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the NY Attorney Grievance Committee did they suddenly offer a full refund and "suggest" we part ways. The timing made it obvious this was a reaction, not a resolution. It felt like I was being pressured to withdraw my complaints in exchange for my refund. This was not my first experience with the firm — they previously handled a case that was dismissed, and even then they never explained why. The lack of transparency, professionalism, and basic respect across both cases was consistent. I got my money back, but the experience was exhausting and disappointing. I’m leaving this review to warn others — don’t mistake their marketing for solid client care. It isn’t.

I was having serious problems with the executor and her attorney settling my Aunt's estate. It took over two years to settle.
