I was represented by Brian Foley in two court cases against the City of Philadelphia. One case was for defamation against two employees, in state court, and the other was with Federal court for FMLA and disability discrimination. These cases were complex and intertwined. Brian represented me well and kept me well informed and involved in the preparation of both cases. Discovery took place during COVID restrictions and that made it more difficult to capture evidence and complete the necessary, multiple depositions. We ultimately prevailed on summary judgement in the defamation case. We then worked toward a settlement of both cases through the federal court - the federal judges are more hands-on than the local Philadelphia state court judges. It was a long process and Brian was reliable, professional, and ethical. He respected my opinion and took the time to explain the legal process. Brian’s partnership helped to minimize a stressful situation. In the end we won a settlement, my record was cleared with a full retraction, and we were able to effect change to the process and ensure that related training for various City employees would be implemented.
