I hired Mr. Teague on a simple trespassing case. His rate was fair and he showed up to court on time. He was a relatively new attorney at the time, but because my case wasn't all that complicated, I trusted him and got a good result. The case was dismissed. My only critique was is that Mr. Teague never asked me if I had any exculpatory evidence that would prevent the state from meeting it's burden. I guess perhaps most criminal defendants don't, but I did. When I brought it to his attention, he was very quick in getting my case dismissed.

This review is to express my deep frustration and disappointment with the legal representation provided by Attorney James Stafford in a murder trial involving a young man convicted under Texas’s Law of Parties. Based on what I observed, his handling of the case was negligent, unprofessional, and had devastating consequences for the defendant and his family. The conviction was based solely on the Law of Parties—a controversial legal doctrine in Texas that allows someone to be held responsible for a crime committed by another person, if they are believed to have aided, encouraged, or conspired in the offense. Yet, what makes this case especially disturbing is that none of the other individuals allegedly involved were ever convicted. One key figure, known as “Trill,” had his charges entirely dismissed, and was deceased at the time of trial—facts that were never brought up in court. Despite these major inconsistencies, Mr. Stafford failed to challenge the fairness of holding someone responsible for the actions of others who were never proven guilty. This was a critical oversight. Under the Law of Parties, a conviction should hinge on collective criminal intent, yet no co-defendants were found guilty or even tried. This should have raised serious questions in court—and yet, none were asked. Additionally, just before the trial began, the case was abruptly transferred to another judge and courtroom—a highly unusual and suspicious move. That moment showed a complete lack of advocacy and commitment to the client’s rights. The lack of preparation was also obvious. Mr. Stafford came to court with nothing more than a small yellow notepad and never once brought up the dismissal of charges against Trill or the fact that Trill was no longer living. These facts were crucial to the defense and could have changed the entire trajectory of the case. In my opinion, the defendant did not receive a fair trial or effective legal representation. Cases involving the Law of Parties require thorough legal strategy, aggressive defense, and attention to every detail. That did not happen here. If you or a loved one is facing serious charges—especially involving the Law of Parties—seek a lawyer who is truly committed to fighting for justice. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend James Stafford to anyone.

I retained Mr. Turnbull based on the recommendation of a mutual acquaintance. I had already hired another lawyer but that attorney turned out to be downright incompetent, to the point of possibly hurting my case. When you are faced with a serious legal matter, it is not the time to bargain shop. The old adage of “you get what you pay for” becomes clear. Quality representation comes with a price, but it far outweighs the cost of the ramifications of having an attorney that does not take the time to learn about your case and who makes shady deals with opposing counsel in the hallway to the courtroom in order to wrap up your case quickly so he can make out like a bandit with your retainer. I was most impressed, however, with Mr. Turnbull’s litigation skills in the courtroom. Prepared with binders full of case law research pertaining to my legal issue, Mr. Turnbull knew the technical issues of my case inside and out. The briefs and motions presented to the court were well-researched and well-written. Despite the anxiety of having to be in court, I felt at ease with two skilled litigators at my table. While still being courteous and professional, a reprimand (or several) from the Judge did not prevent Mr. Turnbull from persisting in pressing an issue that was crucial to my case. Had it not been such a serious matter, it would have even been entertaining to watch Mr. Turnbull mop the floor with the opposing counsel, who was nowhere near his caliber of litigating. On February 14th our son, who just turned 17, and his friend, age 16 were walking home from another neighborhood and were falsely accused by a jogger and arrested for aggravated robbery with a lethal weapon. A class 1 Felony which carries a sentence of 20-99 years in prison. Subsequently, our son spe nt the next 35 hours in the Harris County processing unit or jail for a lack of a better word and released after posting bond. On February 17th we retained Ned Turnbull, our lawyer, to defend our son. On February 20th the case summary was put togethor and presented to the District Attorneys office for immediate dismissal. The DA's office sat on the case summary for 5 days...they were in no hurry until Mr. Turnbull started kicking some tail. Our son was a day away from being expelled from the Tomball Independent School District and on February 25th the case was reviewed, a phone call was made by the DA to the complainant and dismissed due to "a lack of probable cause". The boys should have never been arrested. I could talk about the nightmare this has caused our family but I would like to talk about our lawyer and the representation we have received. I am 60 years old and I already have a negative demeanor towards people in general especially social media. It takes an "act of God" for me to do a review but I will give it a shot. I hired Vonnie to represent me for my rental matter. My rental apartment caused my health issue and I could not move in to live! However, the rental building is the nasty "Kushner Family"'s building (Yap, President Trump's son in law, Ivanka Trump's husband's company)! They not only pushed me out of the apartment but also try to trick me to keep all my money (about $4500) though I never lived in this apartment at all!!! Their lawyer was famous to be very greedy and nasty which is consistent with this company's culture. When facing a whole legal teams of a rental building, we tenants are so vulnerable and easily taken advantage of. The rental building knew we usually would not go find a lawyer for a few thousand dollars. I tried to reach two attorneys but they were not only expensive but also did not show any sympathy for my situation! This made me feel even more vulnerable and almost lost hope! He represented a family member of mine and was court appointed by Harris County. I met with him and he seemed like he showed no regards to particulars in the case since this was a court appointed and kept pushing for a bad plea deal. He even told me that since he's court appointed that he didn't even have to meet with me since I'm not his client. While that is probably true, my incarcerated family member wanted somebody outside to know the details and keep updated on case but Kyle wouldn't meet up after the first meeting. While he may be good if he's not court appointed think before hiring him. I guess money talks and Harris County doesn't pay him enough to even listen.
