Robert represented me in my divorce. I was real happy because he explained all of the legal jargon in layman's terms and made life a lot easier. Cheryl is fantastic, she gave me hope again in our legal system. Due to circumstances that were beyond by control CPS stepped into my and my daughter’s life, it wasn’t in the best interest of the child and in fact made the situation worse. Cheryl, who was appointed as my daughter attorney saw that there wasn’t a need for them to be involved, she, was a major factor in getting the judge to look at the case and that resulted in CPS being thrown out. I hired Ms. Coleman years ago for a divorce. I had to rehire her to help me gain a termination of rights from my ex husband who had been absent from my daughter's life for many years. He came back into her life and demanded to see her even though years had past with no visits, no phone calls. no ch ild support and no medical payments. He was able to get a high priced attorney for "FREE". He filed a contempt on me believe it or not!! I never filed anything in all the years because he was so gone from the picture. Little did I know what he would do when he decided to be a father. I hired Ms. Coleman who didn't make promises but gave me facts. She fought our case for over a year. My case (divorce with children abducted and taken to another state) was going nowhere (~1 year) when a friend recommended that I consider substituting my attorney. I came across Caitlin’s profile on Avvo in the search and decided to schedule a consultation to discuss my case. Although my case was tri cky in the sense of time being gone and the children being taken to another state without any real action from the part of my previous attorney and starting to lose hope, retaining Caitlin three weeks before the trial put me at ease as she came up to speed Very Very well and quickly. In a short period of time, Caitlin understood all the moving parts of my case, drew attack plans, and discussed the possible outcome of each of the plans. Just to put things into perspective how excellent she is in family law, Caitlin underwood my case very well in a matter of a week better than my previous attorney that was on the case for almost a year. I was very impressed with Caitlin's understanding of my case’s urgency and how the time was not on my side. Caitlin was on the top of her game and knew when submittals are coming due and worked with me to submit any documentations to the court or the opposing counsel in a timely manner without missing a SINGLE due date. Caitlin is very responsive, paid close attention to the details, and easy to work with. The longest I waited to hear back from Cailtin on questions or concerns is less than half a day. I was served with paperwork on a separate matter she was working on with me on a Friday evening and I did not know what to do. I took several months to select an attorney and Caitlin was who I chose. I watched court live streams for weeks to see who carried themselves well in court and argued effectively. Caitlin made my short list. When we met for a consultation I was relieved to see that we gelled well. Speak to her bri efly and it's obvious she's highly intelligent. As a lawyer I found her to be strategic and creative. She treated me with respect, and was extremely responsive. What mattered most to me (and where most other attorneys didn't work out) is that she partnered with me and we didn't fight over the reins. When my ideas were off the wall, she wasn't rude or condescending, and simply explained why it wouldn't work. When I had a gem, she polished it. I don't think I could have found someone I worked better with. Sure enough, my custody case was interstate and despite my efforts I could never find an attorney as good as her in the other state.
