I had consulted three other attorneys before I came across Mr. York. As a physician I had been advised by other physicians to choose an attorney carefully. I had consulted with other attorneys (all were extremely sought after with great recommendations/ ratings and extremely expensive). Two of t hese attorneys told me in initial consultation that they are friends with the judge ( translates to me I want your business and I am not ethical) and others bad mouthed other attorneys (unprofessional). All the other attorneys gave me different advice based on their skill set- some advised me to settle, others advised to go to trial. So if your goal pertaining to what you desire as an end result for your case- the margin of the success of your case will vary depending on the skill set of the attorney you hire. An attorney who is not good at trial (difficult skill set) will ask you to settle at mediation. I came across Mr. York’s profile on line and liked the fact that he was a former police officer. Mr. York was a professional, his wife was a presiding judge and he never mentioned anything personal but truly relied on his skill sets and was honest. I believe what sets him apart from other attorneys is his ability to be a gifted trial lawyer. I think this is an extremely difficult skill set to attain and either you have it or you don’t. I don’t think any amount of schooling can teach you to be so quick on your feet in rebuttal and apply the law at your fingertips. I read some of the other reviews and he has been called an angel, a shark but I truly believe what makes him the best and sets him apart from every other attorney is his ability/gift to be a flawless trial lawyer and get you to the closest margin of your end goal. I don’t think there can be many other attorneys who can challenge his gift.

Don't waist your time and money on this guy, he kept demanding money after I gave him $2,000 for a divorce and in order for him to settle my divorce he claimed he needed a continuous $500 a month until the divorce was final, which could take up to 5-6 years according to him. If you want to throw mon ey away, get the run around, and get nothing settled than hire the guy. Good luck!!

I was completely caught off guard after finding out I was getting divorced. Keep in mind, I married a CRIMINAL defense attorney. Divorce is hard, but divorcing an attorney, is by far the hardest. Mr. Rudisel is incredibly knowledgeable, responsive, and truly one of a kind. You need someone like him b y your side; especially if you’re going through a humiliating, and downright nasty divorce, such as mine. Before, and during my meeting with Mr. Rudisel, I was a nervous wreck... this divorce is (and will always be) one of the most difficult experiences of my life; frankly, I would not wish this upon my worst enemy. During mediation, I was shocked to find out my ex initially proposed, for himself to have sole primary custody of our daughter; I was in utter disbelief, this was something I did not see coming (although in retrospect I should have). Of course, Mr. Rudisel wasn't allowing that, and quickly shut their absurd proposal down; it is because of Shawn, I have shared joint custody of daughter. Although this is only the beginning, Shawn Rudisel has already proven himself to be a zealous advocate for my child, myself, and my personal needs. His staff is wonderful as well; Kirsty and Samantha are amazing and have been a true pleasure to work with. My ex may be a decently experienced attorney (so I am told), but he is without a doubt, no Shawn Rudisel.

First of all, divorce is not cheap if you don't have two willing parties that will be able to settle in mediation. 90% of all divorces end in mediation and this is what most lawyers are hoping for because they don't have trial experience. If you are early in the process, accept this now. If you kn ow you will go to trial because your ex has no incentive to divorce, you will NOT save money. There are so many ways to lose money if your attorney is not looking for every angle from the opposing attorney that’s designed to cost you money. Believe me, coming from someone that spent a year and ultimately went to trial, I can count over $40,000 my first lawyer (not Shawn unfortunately) cost me because he didn't look at the details of what I was order to pay my ex. This didn't count the $55,000 I ultimately paid this lawyer. A year prior to actually filing for my divorce, Shawn spent a lot of time on the phone with me going over my options and never charged me a dime. I was so new to the process and remember thinking, $3000 retainer? Why so much? It shouldn’t cost that much, should it? Shawn tried to explain to me what I was in for because there was no way my ex would ever settle. We were going to trial, no matter what and that will cost money. When I finally decided to file, I went with a lawyer that had over 500 positive reviews on birdeye.com. I thought, wow… all those can’t be wrong. Well, believe me, because someone maintains this plethora of positive reviews doesn’t make them a competent lawyer. Over $50,000 later, the $3,000 retainer was nothing. I am kicking myself for not choosing Shawn to represent me in my divorce because he would have caught all these issues as they happened. After my divorce was finally finished, I needed to file another petition to change the verbiage around the sale of the marital home in the final divorce decree. Again, this is because my first lawyer (not Shawn) didn’t “catch” this change from the opposing attorney who wrote the final decree. My old lawyer drug his feet for over 8 weeks and said I owed him $3,000 for this petition and this was before we even went to court the first time! I fired that lawyer and called Shawn. Again, Shawn spent a long time on the phone with me and even reviewed the draft of the petition from my first lawyer. He immediately pointed out errors and offered a solution that saved me. Within a day, he had written a Petition for me to file myself. He only charged me for a couple of hours but spent well over 6 hours on the phone and researching my options for a poorly written divorce decree that my first lawyer signed off on. Since this petition was all procedural at this point, there was no “argument” needed by lawyers. Shawn explained I didn't need to pay a lawyer travel time and court time which is usually at least 2 court dates. Shawn saved me thousands on this alone. I filed the professional Petition, had my ex served papers, and went to court. The judge rendered his decision and Shawn even wrote the “Order” for me to bring back to the judge for him to sign. Shawn didn’t even charge me for this extra work which is unheard of for any lawyer. Believe me, there will be no other attorney to consider if I’m ever in this situation again. If you need a divorce attorney, Shawn is the man to go to. He will be your advocate and have your best interest in mind. Something my first lawyer clearly lacked.

I hired Mr. Slate for my divorce case. He & his staff really dig into cases and he was able to find assets that my ex was trying his best to conceal. Ended up getting a really good settlement because the other side did not want to face him in trial. Hire this guy.

I was completely blindsided when CPS called me and told me that a report had been filed against me with respect to one of my three children. After some research, I called Dennis and determined very quickly that he was experienced and qualified. His office handled communications with the CPS investiga tor, and the CPS interviews were held at his office. Very pleased with the results, and the billing was fair and as agreed. An easy recommendation.
