When I first contacted Ms. Barbee I mentioned my daughter or myself had not lived in Texas in 15 years. The home state of the child was in MS. She convinced me since I was moving to Louisiana in the next few months, my case needed to be heard in TX. Mistake because anyone who could be a witness, frie nds, relatives, teachers, psychologists lived in MS. My case is now known to be one of the most severe cases of Parental Alienation by 3 Parental Alienation experts. I allowed my daughter to go visit her dad for an early Summer visitation, longer than the normal week and when it was time for her to come home he served me with a restraining order and papers to take custody. I wasn’t allowed to speak to or see my own child for 6 months then I only got to see her with an amicus attorney and counselor. Ms. Barbee never acted like she believed me, refused to allow me to talk about the history involving my exhusband who had been previously court-ordered to take a psychological evaluation but refused, had harassed my mother for 15 years with well documented proof and had been alienating my daughter from me since she was 5 years old yet accused me of being the alienator. Everytime my daughter returned from her dads she provoked me, started fights, began threatening me and finally got a reaction out of me which she recorded. Ms. Barbee seemed to be against me and for my ex. She never helped my case which was never even heard before a Judge after dragging on for over a year. We finally hired a Parental Alienation expert to help with a reunification process. Before we had barely started the process Ms. Barbee told me she was quitting my case. Against the advice of our psychologist and the parental alienation expert who agreed we needed more time & myself claiming we were not ready to go to mediation for the second time, Ms. Barbee forced us in mediation. At this point, I had lost my job due to being forced back & forth to Houston repeatedly and I had no money to hire another attorney so I gave in at the mediation. The stress of my case and not being allowed to speak to or see my child for 7 months, took a grave toll on my family and my youngest daughter and I found my mom dead that Christmas Eve. She had just called my ex begging him to let my daughter come visit us for Christmas which he refused. My daughter was my moms heart and she couldn’t take the stress. Christmas Eve will be 2 years since my mom passed and 2 1/2 since I have seen or spoken to my daughter. Our psychologist who had been seeing my daughter was 10 & diagnosed with Juvenile diabetes & Celiac disease had told me when my daughter was 11 along with her pediatrician to her a restraining order against my ex because he was dangerous and causing my child to be sick. I didn’t have the money to take him to court because I lost my job since my daughter was sick all the time. I decided to go back to become an RN to take care of my child. This was never even discussed or relevant with my case since I wasn’t allowed to ‘badmouth’ my ex. Ms. Barbee didn’t want to hear the history whatsoever. I have lost my child forever due to inexperience and not being defended when he was clearly alienating her from me. I have been told that most Judges would immediately remove a child from a parent who was alienating and some will not allow the child to even visit the parent.

This lawyer is a father's rights lawyer, which is great. Father's deserve the same rights as mothers. However, when I wanted to ask for child support, even the minimum, from my child's father he flat out refused. He treated my case as a nuisance and would say lots of insensitive things, even sexual a dvances towards me. Also I paid him everything up front, no payment plans. BIG MISTAKE. He did not work hard for me at all, since he already got paid. He was very insensitive to my situation and when at a court hearing, he told me to shut up when I was speaking when spoken to. I was not in any trouble, he wasn't protecting me. Just being a douche. It was a mistake hiring him. Don't make the same mistake.

WATCH OUT! Wow this guy REALLY screwed over my case. The damage he's caused is exponential and residual for years. I'm SO heart broken by his deception and how this is now playing out in on going legal battle for custody. He told me to settle so he could remove himself and did not tell me the rep ercussions this would have or what 'settling' even fully meant. While in court he did not speak up to the fact that my ex was lying to the judge in having a friend removed from the court room, claiming she was my mother/key witness. I have been dealing with so much in this case and his advice has completely decimated my ability to fight as I need to and has caused me to be falsely incriminated. I have dealt with a few lawyers and know how challenging finding a good lawyer is. I certainly hope this helps others make a good decision for their families.

I scheduled a paid consultation with Mr. Golub for $725, which covered up to 90 minutes. I was fully aware that time beyond that would incur additional charges, which is exactly why I was carefully monitoring the clock throughout the meeting. Around the 70-minute mark, Mr. Golub noted we had 20 mi nutes remaining. At no point did I consent to going over the 90-minute limit. In fact, I specifically brought up time again as we passed the 1.5-hour mark at 1.70 (because he kept talking and I tried to find a way to interrupt without being rude) to try to wrap things up. He acknowledged my concern and said he would “stop the meter”—but still continued talking, and then charged me for an extra 0.3 hours, bringing the total to $930.50. What shocked me most was what he wrote afterward: “You then said something about having only $725 on your card… But I see that you provided an AMEX card, not some kind of debit card, and so I have gone ahead and run the actual charge on the credit card you provided.” That felt incredibly inappropriate and exploitative. I had clearly explained my financial limit, and to override that because the card technically allowed it—not because I agreed to it—crossed a line. To make matters worse, Mr. Golub had not reviewed the detailed case summary I submitted in advance, which diminished the efficiency and value of the time spent. Compared to other attorneys I’ve consulted (some paid but few was less or completely fre—many of whom were MUCH better prepared and more empathetic—this experience felt transactional, disorganized, and tone-deaf. I also found it disappointing that he admitted he hadn’t reviewed my materials in advance, despite receiving a detailed key documents. For a paid consult at this rate, I expected more preparation and better communication. I ultimately chose another firm who was better aligned with my case and financial situation. Andrew represented me on an FLSA case; one that could not be lost. Needless to say I walked with a judgment which was substantially less than it should have been awarded in a settlement. I told him the defendants playbook regarding a rule 68 motion... that they would file one, and that per the courts it did not apply to my case as a "prevailing party" could not have been established prior to the end of my case. Andrew tried to get me to settle for a measly 11K, I said f' No!. Ultimately I was awarded between 70 and 80k, but this is a fraction of the recovery I would have had if I had a competent attorney handling my case.

Mr G walked into the room with his credit card processor in his hand, very tacky. After making sure we signed the forms acknowledging his very high fee per hour to hear what we would like his help with, he started going on and on about what a judge would say in court. I repeatedly told him, we had n o interest in going to court, we were simply looking for mediation. Realizing this may not be worth his time, he advised to do nothing. When he saw that I was ready to leave after this and he had only talked for 30 mins of the 90 he charged us for, he asked us to wait while he went to his office to google some things. Still not giving us any advice of value we left. I went home and did some googling myself and within 10 mins knew more than I had learned from him.

I hired Marjorie as the Plaintiff. Unfortunately, she did not properly serve the defendant, and the judge had to schedule a hearing for insufficient service. The entire time, she approached me in a very condescending way. Although her persona is very arrogant and aggressive, she yelled at me the majo rity of the time and I constantly had to repeat myself the entire time. When I fired her, she biasly charged me of 20 hours of work she did not commit. In addition, she even threatened to put a lean out on my case.

You never think you are going to find yourself in a spot where you are filing an EEOC case against your former employer. Mauro is extremely knowledgeable in employment contract law. He made me feel at ease with a situation where I did not perform appropriate due diligence before signing a contract related to 1099 work.
