As an aspiring Mexican filmmaker I knew my chances were slim when trying to apply for a green card for the USA. A career in the arts is not always the easier one to justify as important, specially to immigration services. From the beginning I decided I wanted to apply for a EB-1 visa instead of the s impler “artist” ones that are not for immigration. I wanted to have the chance to be a resident and not just a visitor. In the beginning I contacted five different attorneys and at the end I decided I would work with Jacob and his firm. I felt he had a great understanding and appreciation for the Latin-American culture and seemed really interested in making a connection with me and my situation. Like many people i was born in Mexico but i grew up in the United States. As i was growing up i made a couple of bad choices and got in trouble with the law. I have a couple of things on my criminal record including a felony charge. When ICE arrested me in 2015 i did not know what was going on. I was confused,scared and worried.
