I was forced to pay child support for two children, and denied my right to obtain a paternity test in 2007. I tried fighting this case on my own, which lead me to get behind on my child support obligation. On August 20, 2012, Attorney Cohen was assigned to my case. I was immediately put at ease by he r kind words, "Just relax, I'm here to help you!" Attorney Cohen was very professional and informative during each court hearing. Attorney Cohen petitioned the court for DNA test. Testing proved I was not the father of both children. Attorney Cohen was successful in getting all child support obligation and arrearage removed!!!

I hate writing these types of reviews for black women but it is necessary because I’ve never encountered this type of treatment from a law office. At my most vulnerable time of going through a divorce, I was met with condescending rapport, errors in official documentation, and argumentative behavior. Beware!

She was very helpful when it was time to take my money. After that getting her on the phone was impossible. When I did speak with her she was always short and had an attitude. The paperwork she typed up was incorrect and she got an attitude with me for informing her. She didn’t even contact me to let me know my divorce was finalized. I looked it up online and contacted her. She got defensive and told me she done her job and don’t contact her anymore.

Do Not Recommend – Extremely Unprofessional and Incompetent I waited before writing this review to fully process the poor experience I had with Attorney Dorsey and her firm. I hired her to handle my divorce, believing she was the right person to help me through a very difficult time. Unfortunately, I was wrong. She initially came across as professional and compassionate, but that quickly changed. Her work was sloppy and disorganized, with multiple errors in her legal filings. I dismissed the early mistakes as minor—but that was a mistake on my part. She arrived late to a virtual court proceeding without giving me any notice. In another hearing, she entered the wrong virtual courtroom entirely and never offered an explanation or apology. Her fees kept changing without warning or clear breakdowns. Most concerning, she had no clear legal strategy and seemed completely lost on how to handle my case. I spent thousands of dollars before finally terminating her services due to her gross incompetence. Please don’t be fooled by your initial impression—my experience was frustrating, disappointing, and costly. I would not recommend Attorney Dorsey to anyone going through a divorce or any legal matter that requires true professionalism and expertise.

John Grubb is that rare mixture of honesty, intelligence, integrity and wisdom. In working with John I knew that he would do everything he could to get the best possible outcome for my children's future, and for me after being a stay-at-home Mom for many years. I hired Rebecca to represent me in the probate of my late father’s estate. I engaged her and paid the retainer invoice within two days of receipt. I experienced extreme difficulty reaching her through multiple modes of communication right from the outset and had to proactively initiate requests for u pdates. After finally receiving a drafted probate application I had it executed, notarized and returned back to Rebecca electronically within 24 hours. The last communication I had from Rebecca was that she would e-file the application that day (June 14). She never actually filed the application with the court and I haven’t heard from her since. I have reached out via phone, online client portal, and certified mail yet still have not received any response weeks later. I officially terminated the client attorney relationship in accordance with the legal services agreement on July 2 but still have not received any communication. In addition she still has possession of my father’s original will to this day (July 13). I cannot caution any prospective clients more as you consider Rebecca as an attorney. My family and I are already experiencing stressful times and I had hoped that hiring Rebecca would help alleviate that stress. Unfortunately, the opposite has happened.

I was referered to Ms.Rowland by a another attorney who felt that she was a better fit for my case. My case started out as a CPS case with a protection order later added. Ms.Rowland on our 1st court date won and my custody order remained unchanged. Then instead of having to attend court the next day over a protective order she was able to get that withdrew and held mediation instead which resulted only in minimal changes. Ms.Rowland was always very upfront with me and always gave me the choices of very best outcome or the worst outcome. She was always a phone call away no matter the day or time. As a mother also she would sit and let me cry and just listen she truly understands and is truly all in with her clients. Her fees are reasonable and she explains that fully in your consultation. I interviewed several attorneys and I chose Lauren because I felt she was confident, competent, and had the experience I was looking for. I consulted with Lauren several times before beginning the divorce process. Each time she was happy to discuss the facts and the process without pressuring me to make a decision. Divorce is a very delicate and difficult decision. It was important for me to be informed but not pressured. Lauren was great at accomplishing this. Once I made my decision Lauren was great at helping me move through the process. We discussed various approaches and I was able to make informed decisions on each aspect of my divorce. I hired Michelle to get orders for child support and visitation. Originally, when she first came on we made a strategic plan on requesting documents from him and sending him a questionnaire and a strategic plan regarding his absenteeism. In the beginning of the case, the father was extremely dis respectful towards me and Michelle refusing to give his financial documentation for child support calculation. Michelle got the Court to sanction him $1,200.00. That changed his tune, and he provided the bank statements so that we can ascertain the correct amount of child support. In the end, our case settled at mediation on the terms that I wanted for shorter visitation times during the school year and shorter summer visits due to our child’s special needs. I was very happy with the resulting agreement, which saved me time and money, that I did not have to otherwise spend going to Court. She was also very easy to communicate with and answered all my emails or phone calls on the same day.

This is my 3rd time to use Michelle. She is awesome!!! Recently, I was laid off and I had to hire Michelle to obtain an immediate modification. Michelle filed our request within 24 hours and aggressively sought the needed modification. In the end, we settled at mediation and Michelle submitted all the paperwork without me having to go to Court. I had a lot of other “moving parts” that I needed to discuss with her as tangents that could affect the case, she was always prompt to return calls and emails same day, usually within the hour. She worked my case lightning fast, was aggressive, as usual, and very affordable. I highly recommend Michelle. My child support almost tripled, and he was ordered to provide health insurance for the first time. This is my 2nd time to use Michelle. Originally, I hired her to get a midpoint child exchange and floating weekends that I could designate each month to suit my work schedule. This time, I hired her to flip custody as the children had been left with me. She was strategic in doing the custody flip b y temporary orders with no child support and then Getting the custody flip to be permanent with a slight discount to child support.
