I used Katherine to finish a divorce that had gone on way too long. Within 3 months my divorce was finalized (while another attorney "tried" negotiating it for 16 months). I was always kept informed. Court dates were kept and never rescheduled. I would say that an experienced lawyer could handle the hype. The lawyer took a case for a little money and then finished pro bono. It is better to have a lawyer than no lawyer at all. This particular lawyer had it all right in her sweaty little palms and could have opened an investigation and lawsui t for CPS caseworkers and lawyer lying to the judge under sworn oath, manipulation of documentation and evidence along with multiple federal and state law violations and basically could have taken CPS and the State of Texas to the bank. It would have set a new bar as to what CPS could and could not do to innocent families being victimized by a government agency. Sometimes lawyers are not willing to see things through when all the evidence is in hand. I was not satisfied at all and never will be satisfied with the outcome and the way my case was handled. It took her way to long to resolve the case. Money is rated first, If you are poor you may step to the back of the line with this lawyer.

Melissa became my court appointed attorney for an family violence case. 3rd degree felony violation of protective order and impeding breath. I sat in jail 7 days and I kid you not this lady walked in court and I could instantly feel how experienced she was. She was straight forward with me about ever ything as if she was my mother. Let me Begin by saying that I am not always the easiest person to deal with. Throughout this entire legal process, Miss Dickson always kept me well informed of exactly what was happening. I have known other attorneys not to do that. When we appeared before the court, she always knew the details of th e case, where we stood in the process, and was well-versed in my defense. In late 2019, I had an illegal alien file a fraudulent accident claim against me, for an accident I allegedly left the scene of. My insurance company disproved the claim in court, and disposed of the claim. However, in the course of setting up this fraudulent claim for his illegal alien client, their attorney apparently filed a fraudulent accident report with Harris County. Even though the insurance case was dismissed, because it was a fraudulent claim, my ticket was never dismissed. Fast forward to early 2021. I was arrested on the two-year-old fraudulent warrant from the fraudulent accident claim. Miss Dickson was always on time. Always well acquainted with the facts and the current status of my case. And was able to get it dismissed in relatively short order. I would encourage anyone to hire Melissa Dickson.

Kate Ferrell was my attorney and my very first time I spoke with her about appearing in court she was upset and hollering about she’s running late getting her child to school. Please know she do not keep her word at all. Mrs.Ferrell never meet with me to hear about my case nor my side in the case. Sh e continued to put me off a whole year. I told her I wanted to go to trail because I was jumped on by two people ages 35 and I was 59 yrs old and disable but she disregard that. Then my case was dismissed and she told me I didn’t have to appear for a dismissal and she stated she would mail my copy of the dismissal for my records to press future charges on my own and she didn’t deliver on what she said to me after all that she text me back stating how busy she is and that I could pickup my own copy from the courts. I suggest you don’t use her because she do not kept her word, I never got to explain my side to the judge either did I get to press charges. The plaintiff got away then burned the home she jumped on me for and all I have Is the $20,000 expense for repairing the home. I wouldn’t trust her. She should be reported to the judge or the bar. She got paid for doing nothing. Mrs.Ferrell attitude is horrible toward the victim.

I was picked up at my home on an Aggravated Assault charge relating to a traffic incident that occured a month and half prior. Being unfamiliar with the Criminal Justice system, especially that of Harris County District Courts, I went to my first court date after posting bond with the intent of find ing representation. Sitting there for hours observing the different defense attorneys one distinguished lawyer caught my attention for his rapport with the prosecuting attorneys and his "lawyerly" demeanor. I spoke with him the first chance that I got and set up an appointment to discuss my case that afternoon. Before the meeting I did some internet research on Robert Loper's experience and was quite impressed. When I met him at his office in the Heights, I was introduced to his son, attorney Bradley Loper, and the three of us sat down and discussed my case. During the discussion you could feel the mechinzations in thier minds at work as they patiently listened to me. The quick sharp banter between the two of them as I elaborated my details along with earnest feeling that they were there to help me had me sold. I hired them that day. For the remainder of my court dates, the case was reset 5 or 6 times, one(or both) of them would meet me BEFORE the docket was called. They patiently explained to me where we were at, what the next steps were and encouraged me to ask any questions - to come to their office if need be. Brad recommended hiring an investigator, which I did, and strategically decided to present the findings to the court. As the reality of being convicted of a FELONY really set in, I mentioned to Brad to try to settle for a deferred adjudicated misdemeanor with probation, but he told me he believed me and that he thought the case should get dismissed. Do you know how that kind of confidence coming from your attorney really confirms that you are in good hands? Well, sure enough, on my final court date today the Prosecuting Attorney was talking about a misdemeanor with probation, and Brad fought for me.... CASE DISMISSED. The dread is lifted from my shoulders and I can get on with my life.

As a resident of Louisiana, working and living in Houston temporarily, received evading arrest and assault charges at a bar one evening. As an independent insurance adjuster any charges cause immediate and long-term effects on employment opportunities. An attorney friend of mine in Baton Rouge refe rred Mr. Williams. I called and immediately spoke to Mr. Williams over the phone. Explained my situation, and discussed cost, which was extremely reasonable. I had hired Alex Houthuijzen as part of the Royal Trial Attorney team. They were referenced to me by a legal organization. Anytime I tried asking a question I was treated as if I was bothering him. His partner, Brandon Roy, never bothered to communicate to me. Information that needed to be su bpoenaed was never received. His subpoenas never worked. They would ask me to get statements from possible witnesses. Their so-called evidence was only two sentences made by a non-witness. They never brought up the usage of character letters. My grand jury packet was comprised of two pages. I was also constantly harassed for money. I felt like I was harassed for money because they would keep asking me for payment. Even though I always paid on the agreed date. But they wanted their payments weeks early. After being promised that my case would be dismissed by a grand jury... It wasn't. I was disappointed. His promises were not kept. After that, I looked for better and more established lawyers. They're able to tell me that I had hired an attorney that had literally left law school that year prior. That his focus at the time wasn't in criminal law. And that I should have never been promised any outcome. The attorneys that I telephoned were more welcoming and patient than my current lawyers. I learned more about the legal process from those phone calls...than during the whole time I had Mr.Alex Houthuijzen as my lawyer. We hired him previously for a case in Harris county district court. He always had this rude and very prideful and horrible attitude that made it hard to get along with him. He is only helpful to those he knows will be an easy win. He has no sympathy or understanding of what his clients go through and doesn’t explain what is going on. He straight up told me that prison was my best option, and tried to convince me to just accept prison time. He didn’t want to do the extra work to get a decent deal.

I had the unfortunate experience of being charged with a second offense of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI 2nd) following a traffic accident that was witnessed by a police officer. One year ago today, on August 31st, 2018 - Attorney Shahin Zamir gave me hope and got me out of a mess I should have never been involved in to begin with. I was arrested for the possession of a controlled substance (a state jail felony) in northern Harris County, Texas. I had never been charged with a felony before, never even had a single conviction on my record, and now this case was about to change my life & turn me into a second-class citizen as well as destroy my chances of getting financial aid for college, of ever getting a home in a nice area, and most importantly, of ever getting a good job in my life. After my arrest and posting $100 bond in the county jail, I could never fall asleep for days on end, I had to go for a walk every 20 minutes to avoid going insane, and I felt my life was in jeopardy - all over getting arrested by racist cops who didn't care to let me explain my innocence and just wanted to throw in another person of color in a government cage and enforce the failed "war on drugs". It would have been one thing if the substance was mine, but it wasn't - which made the injustice of my arrest even more awful. The police essentially conducted an investigation in a shady manner, and acted like their wrongful ways were just a typical night of police work for them. It was absolutely disgusting, I was just another innocent man to haul off to jail before their lunch break in the country that incarcerates a quarter of the world's prison population in an extremely punitive system compared to all other industrialized nations - a racist and atrocious system that has its origins through slave patrols and extremely hierarchical structures. I looked on avvo.com for lawyers in Houston - and I had a bad experience with my first lawyer back when I was arrested last time (also my first time/another drug arrest that occurred back in 2013 when I was 18 in high school) who never showed up in court, always had paralegals show up for him, never answered the phone, and ended up getting me deferred adjudication for my misdemeanor drug charge even though it was my first arrest ever. However, Shahin Zamir was different. When I called him, somehow I knew from the very beginning of our first conversation this man would SAVE my life. The fee he charged was reasonable, he appeared more personal to me and wasn't just another lawyer upholding a fake 'professional persona' or a facade - he ACTUALLY seemed like a real friend and you could tell he was relateable to you and vice versa. I found that he knows some Persian as well, which made my mother and I more comfortable and confident in his abilities, since Persian people like looking out for other Persian people. Shahin never made any promises, but in the end, I knew that hiring him as my lawyer would be the best thing I've ever done. He answered just about all of my calls, reassured me he would do his best to represent me and made me feel okay. I thought my case would drag on but he got my case DISMISSED only a month after I got charged! I wasn't expecting that at all - when I walked in court and saw him standing there with a smile on his face, I knew deep inside of me that it was going to be good news, and it turned out to be the BEST news!
