- ★★★★★I would rehire Brent again, and again
A · criminal defense ·
Three years ago I was being charged as a co-conspirator in a criminal case. It was one of the scariest moments of my life. Brent was a criminal defense attorney that decided to accept my case because he felt that he could help me. It was my first time ever having been in trouble legally, Brent made s ure that I was heard. Brent explained all of my legal rights to me and also explain that he cannot make any promises to me either. His honesty and sincerity let me trust him. He worked in conjunction with another attorney, not within his law firm that was connected to my case. He was able to provide me the most comfort that I think any attorney ever has in my lifetime. He provided me the best possible outcome I could’ve asked for. I got to stay home with my family and not be sent to prison. He was able to save my life. Any time I had a question or a follow up he was there. I would recommend Brent as a criminal defense attorney any day of the week to anyone that is in a position to worry about what their future may look like.

Spoke to Brent who was very on top of my unique situation and able to provide great insight! His recommendation saved me thousands. To top it off, he emailed me guidance should anything arise and to let him know if anything changes in my situation. Would recommend to anyone that is looking for an hon est opinion on a legal matter.
- ★★★★★Very prompt and very helpful

- ★★★★★A lawyer with heart

Brent Hart was recommended by a couple of lawyer friends of mine. Brent was supportive of me every step of the way. He is understanding, knowledgable, empathetic, and personable. Every request I asked for he was accommodating and straightforward. Even in the times of my self doubt he was able to spe ak to me with compassion and encouragement. I was nervous the night before the hearing and I called him after hours. He answered the call. Brent was aware that I was on a budget and worked with me in a way that was time efficient. We won the case and I am grateful for his help.
- ★★★★★Highly recommended

Mr. Hart represented me on a challenging legal action full of false, unfounded and ill-conceived accusations, amongst other cases. He has always been prompt, diligent, and very communicative. He considered my input at all times and worked with me to prepare a comprehensive response for as long as necessary. He really understands the law and the modern day circumstances. I was fortunate to get the best possible outcome, and got the petition against me dismissed by the court. I would recommend Brent to any friends and family that need a brilliant attorney that will fight for you.

Great criminal defense lawyer, I am really happy for a very short and successful case representation provided by Aaron!
- ★★★★★Unresponsive, borderline negligent

I had a court case against me that after consultation with several lawyers they all agreed was very straightforward. I still wanted a lawyer with a good track record, so after reading reviews on Aaron Kiviat I set up a consultation with him. He also said that this was an easy case but that he didn't come cheap. What other lawyers were asking, around $1000, Aaron wanted $4000. What convinced me to go with Mr. Kiviat was the feeling that he really was on my side, could be trusted to take the case seriously, and by his words that he always handled his cases personally and not through a paralegal. He sold me, so I went with him out of a feeling of trust. From that moment on, getting him to respond to calls, emails and texts was nearly impossible. I would get something in the mail from the court, would ask him what I needed to do, and nothing. Np response. It honestly had me very worried as to what was happening. Finally I get a first response from him regarding the prosecutor's discovery, which he told me was right in line with my statements and that this was a good thing. He then told me his paralegal was still reviewing the discovery and that his paralegal was also looking into similar cases for argument. After the call, I thought about that. My lawyer, in getting me to hire him, lied to me. He lied about something somewhat erroneous, his not using a paralegal, but still after considering his complete lack of communication this little lie on top of it still left me concerned. Finally, after I'd asked for updates with no response, he contacts me to go over the prosecutor's offer. Even with my case being as straightforward as it was, in Aaron's words, the prosecutor still wanted his "pound of flesh" and that his offer was an SOC that would require me to put in community service hours. When I pushed back, in that if I was innocent as I believe and my lawyer said he believes, why should I still be punished with having to put in hours of community service? Aaron's tone changed, and now he seemed to advocate for the prosecutor's position. Yes, he said we still could take the case before a jury, but the best case scenario was that I get a dismissal and sometimes you just have to eat crow. So, I went with the SOC and performed community service out in the freezing winter for a crime I didn't commit. Even after that, first court date just to say I agreed to the SOC, we attended via Zoom. The prosecutor was in the court room in a suit. I was in a suit. My lawyer? He was in his living room with an unbuttoned dress shirt. The judge and prosecutor appeared to smirk at that. After that, not a peep. Case gets dismissed, I ask for the paperwork that confirms it, took multiple requests until FINALLY he emails me the paperwork with a simple "see below." Spoke with some of my friend's relatives who are lawyers, and they all tell me that Aaron's behavior was in fact very negligent and that he did not put in the work that he was paid far more than the case was worth. And to tell a white lie about not using a paralegal, unnecessary and frankly shady. I would not recommend retaining Mr. Kiviat, and behavior like this, this is at the core of our justice systems problems.

Aaron is a true professional. His dedication after a case was over is what impressed me the most. It's a trate that very few people have, and Aaron is a prime example of what an attorney that truly is looking out for your best interests represents. I'm writing this review several months after Aaron h elped me successfully navigate through a very unfamiliar time. Thanks for the excellent service!
