I hired Elizabeth Hoffman as my family law lawyer in a custody case that should have been pretty easy, but my ex and his mother (a retired prosecutor) decided to deflect his drinking issues by making me look bad. Elizabeth never played into their games, instead she was always well prepared for court or mediation and just made them look silly with her knowledge of the law and family court. Even when the GAL tried to cover up my ex's drinking issues, Elizabeth was able to bring those issue to light and have the court address them in the concern that they should have been address with the GAL in a professional way. Elizabeth was always honest with me and very respectful of cost. If she thought something was not worth the money it would cost to pursue, she was very upfront about it, but always let me make the final decision. She also worked very efficiently on my case knowing that I was spending a great deal of money and that my ex was not supporting his child. If her paralegal could help with an issue to save money, that was Elizabeth's first choice. Most important to me though, was Elizabeth really cared about me and my son. When the mud slinging got really bad I could call her and yell, cry and scream and she would listen. She would help me work out a solution or strategy to get through that day and fight the next. Walking into court, I always had an idea of what the outcome was going to be because she was upfront and realistic about my chances. Court is never fun, but Elizabeth's professionalism, calmness and pose helped put me at ease and stay calm. I would recommend Elizabeth to anyone looking for a family law lawyer. Throughout our case, I often joked with her about how we are going to become great friends in the next 17 years of my son's life and that is how I see her today, as more of a friend than just my lawyer!!!
